Reiki Symbols

The Reiki training system uses symbols that are explained, along with the required concepts, and shown to the student by the Reiki master, or teacher. Use of the symbols in a timely manner are of great benefit to the practitioner and their recipients.

Each symbol has a special meaning, and requires certain abilities and qualifications in order to use it effectively. Reiki symbols are activiated by visualizing them in the mind or hands, and some chant the name of the symbol several times to summon or focus, their powers. When Reiki practitioners are properly trained, they become proficient in using the symbols for healing for others, as well as themselves.

The most powerful Reiki symbols are traditionally conveyed on the student as he or she progresses through training, from the mentor, or Reiki Master, with the most powerful called “Special Sacred Reiki Symbols”. Different symbols are used to focus specific healing energies where they are needed.

The CHO KU REI–pronounced choh-koo-ray–symbol means God coming together with man, and is used for increasing the power of Reiki by drawing energy from the immediate area and focusing it where it is needed.
Considered a cleansing power, it is often used to purify food and water as well as herbs and medicine. Other uses are for increasing strength, clearing negative energies from hospitals and sick rooms and providing spiritual protection.

SEI HEI KI–pronounced say-hay-key–means key to the universe, or God and man united, and is used for calming the mind and promoting emotional and mental healing, including healing post traumatic stress. Other uses are for synchronizing the body and brain, balancing the right and left brain, clearing emotional blockage, bringing peace and harmony from inside, and for psychic protection. This symbol is effective against fear, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, anger, sadness, and overcoming addictions.

HON SHA ZE SHO NEN–pronounced Hanh-shah-zay-show-nen–the symbol for distance–means the God, or the Christ, in me meeting the God in you, to produce peace and enlightenment. With this symbol, Reiki healing can be sent over time and distance to anyone, anywhere, including providing a distance attunement.

TAM-A-RA-SHA–pronounced Tam-ah-rah-shaw–the balancing symbol–used for balancing and grounding energy and allowing it to flow by unblocking the energy chakra centers. Another use involves reducing the intensity of pain, or causing it to disperse completely.

THE REIKI MASTER SYMBOL

DAI KO MYO–pronounced dye-ko-me-oh–the most powerful of all the symbols, can be given to and only used by those who have completed advanced training and attained status as Reiki Masters. Used for healing of the soul, this symbol also provides peace and enlightenment. Represented as a great beam of light, the Master Symbol enhances psychic and intuitive abilities. Other uses include healing illness and disease emanating from their original source in energy and aura fields. The Master Symbol can bring about profound changes in individual lives when practiced by a Reiki Master.

Reiki symbols are used in representing chakras, mantras, energies and power, and are activated by visualization, drawing with the fingers, the palm center, or the third eye, at the discretion of the practitioner.
