Reiki Attunement, performed only by a Reiki Master, is the process of opening the palm, heart and crown chakras and linking the student to God, or the Source of life energy. Although Reiki is not a religion, the attunement is said to be a spiritual experience, not learned, but transferred, and awakening the student to the powerful healing energy that resides in each of us, and must be acknowledged and nurtured to bring healing to oneself and others. As attunement energies are passed from the master to the student, the full Reiki healing technique is transferred, raising the student’s overall energy vibration and the student can then become a practioner, or Reiki Master.
The Reiki Attunement process passes through three levels, or degrees, in a ceremony that introduces the student to the use and concepts of the Reiki symbols. When the Reiki Master completes the first degree, energy will flow from the student’s hands. The second degree will confer the Reiki symbols to the student to give power to the flow of energy already received. With the third degree, the student reaches Master level and acquires the remaining Reiki symbols.
Preparation for Attunement
A serious matter, the Reiki Attunement is a spiritual ceremony tailored by the Reiki Master for the individual student. Once attunement is received, it is for life and cannot be taken away or lost. After attunement, the student can become a professional practitioner, or just use Reiki for themselves, loved ones and friends.
To receive the most benefit from a Reiki Attunement, a purification process before the attunement ceremony is recommended. Eat no meat, including fish and fowl, for three days before the ceremony, as these foods often contain toxins in the form of drugs such as penicillin, pesticides, and metals that unbalance your system and make the body sluggish. For those three days leading up to the ceremony, also consider a juice or water only fast, especially if you are already a vegan or an experienced faster. Reduce or eliminate caffeine drinks, coffee, and chocolate, at least on the day of the ceremony, and use no alcohol. Stop or reduce smoking.
For one hour daily, for at least a week prior to the attunement, meditate or spend the hour in silence, without playing the radio or television. Pay attention to sensations and impressions from around the environment and within, and meditate on what they mean. Exercise moderately, in quiet walks or spending time observing nature, and create a peaceful space around yourself. Release worry, fear, anger and any other negative emotions that come to you. Observing all or most of these recommendations will help to ensure that you receive the desired result from your Reiki Attunement.
